⊹⊱✿News✿⊰⊹ Mustafina injured at Europeans, needs surgery

Reigning world all-around champion Aliya Mustafina of Russia withdrew from the
2011 European Championships after the first rotation of the all-around finals.
According to International Gymnast,
she tore her left meniscus on the landing of her vault and will need surgery.
Mustafina attempted a difficult Yurchenko two-and-a-half vault and hobbled on
one foot grabbing her knee on the landing before being carried off the podium.
(Even with the injury, she earned a 15.375
and was leading after the first rotation, before withdrawing.)
She was heavily favored to win a first European title after dominating
in Wednesday's qualification.
